The Arun and Chichester Food Partnership is hoping to increase the amount of food available for those struggling

Chichester initiatives working to provide free food to those struggling with the cost of living are now able to apply for extra funding in a bid to increase the amount of meals available.

Arun & Chichester Food Partnership are offering grants of up to £2000, which have been subsidised by the council, to any local food projects that "provide free food to people in need of help".

"Examples could include buying additional food to meet increased demand, piloting providing free school meals to children who aren't entitled to them...food boxes to be delivered, free hot meals, a breakfast club, creating a new food collection point and more", a spokesperson for the partnership explained.

Having already awarded money to initiatives across Arun, the partnership's also open to new projects - such as piloting a free school meals scheme for families struggling, but who aren't entitled to them through government programs.

Applications for the fund are open until the 6th of April.
