Thieves targeted Yeates Catering, Chichester, stealing thousands of pounds worth of stock and equipment.

Local catering business, Yeates Catering, was targeted by thieves in the early hours of Sunday morning, stealing £300 of stock and a coffee machine worth £3,000.

The small business, located in the Discovery Park Homebase carpark, has been victim to several thefts prior to Sunday.

Ralph Yeates, owner of Yeates Catering, said:

“As a small business working 10-12 hours a day, 5 days a week, takes its toll and to have some low life just break in and help themselves is soul destroying.”

Ralph explained how the series of thefts has affected the business, fearing that if incidents like this continue to happen, they’re unsure how the business can continue to survive.

“We have spent 5 years building a fantastic reputation in the community and everyone we have spoken to has been very supportive so far.”

Sussex Police said: "Officers attended a retail park off Westhampnett Road, Chichester, around 8am on Monday (May 22) following reports of a break-in at a catering van. A coffee machine and food products were stolen, and damage was also caused to the door."

They urge anyone who saw what happened or has any other information to contact the police online or by calling 101.
