A special day of fundraising for Stonepillow took place at the campus in honour of Shelagh Legrave CBE, who leaves the Chichester College Group to take up the post of FE Commissioner from October.

Staff dressed up in outfits inspired by Shelagh’s love of running, tennis and sport – even her beloved Leicester City.

They walked miles in the morning and ate cream teas.

More than £570 was raised for the Stonepillow, a local homeless charity which is close to Shelagh’s heart and of which she serves as the chair of the trustees.

And in preparation for the charity’s ‘Big Sleep’ on Saturday 16 October, students and staff also designed cardboard shelters to help inspire Shelagh for a night under the stars!

Shelagh said: “It has been a lovely day and I was so honoured by the effort the staff and students put in to raise money for Stonepillow.

“We had a lot of fun and it was great to be able to chat to teams around the college before I leave.

“I will greatly miss working with the teams at Chichester College and at all of the Chichester College Group colleges.

“Their dedication to supporting charities and raising money for those less fortunate has always shone through, year on year – and that is something that I know will continue.”
