At least two people have been arrested after disorder broke out last night, near the scene in Southampton where 18-year-old Henry Nowak was killed.
Police say officers were targeted during clashes, with chairs, cans and flares reportedly thrown at them.
The unrest happened close to where Henry was stabbed last December.
He later died in police handcuffs after his attacker falsely claimed he had been racially abused.
Body-worn video footage later showed Henry telling officers, “I’ve been stabbed,” before one officer replied, “don’t think you have.”
The case has caused widespread concern and anger, with questions raised over how Henry was treated after the attack.
The Home Secretary has now accused protesters of “hijacking” a tragedy, following the disorder in Southampton.
The arrests were made as officers responded to the clashes, which saw a large police presence deployed near the scene.
Henry’s death has already been the subject of strong public reaction, particularly after details emerged about the moments following the stabbing.
Henry was just 18 years old when he died.
