Police are appealing for help to identify two men in connection with a series of suspected tendering offences across Sussex.
Officers say they have received a number of reports involving the use of counterfeit Bank of Scotland notes to pay for goods. In several cases, the suspects are said to have requested change in lower denominations of pound sterling after completing transactions.
It has also been reported that the men have intimidated victims and, in some instances, caused damage to property when businesses have refused to accept the notes or challenged the payments.
An ongoing investigation is underway, with officers pursuing multiple lines of enquiry as they work to establish the full circumstances and identify those involved.
Businesses across the county are being urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, particularly where high-value notes are used in exchange for smaller denominations.
Officers are also asking members of the public to come forward if they recognise the men or have any information that could assist the investigation. This includes anyone who may have relevant CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage.
