Importing water from Norway to the South of England

We could soon be drinking water from Norway if a water company in the South goes ahead with plans.

Southern Water says they’re already planning to avoid the risk of droughts and supply issues in the 2030s.

The company that supplies water across the South is looking at shipping water from Norway in case there’s a water shortage here.

They say it’ll involve importing up to 45 million litres of water daily into the areas it supplies across the South East - but only as a last resort.

Due to global warming, water companies across the UK have to plan for extremely hot summers, which means a lack of supply for customers.
