Charity boss Julie Branson has praised Rocks fans for donating almost £400 to a worthy cause in the shape of 4Sight Vision Support.
The money was raised at the game between Bognor and Wingate & Finchley, a 2-2 draw, as well as prior to the match, and coincided with the Eye Healthcare Awareness Week -- and the match was sponsored in conjunction with club sponsors Specsavers.
Julie, who is fundraising manager for 4Sight Vision Support, offered her thanks as the charity's community fundraiser Jessica Passmore was on hand to receive the money in the form of a giant cheque presented by Joe Timlick, Rocks fan and volunteer in the eye department at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester. The ball sponsorship for the Wingate & Finchley game was donated to the charity by Joe and fellow Bognor supporter Graham Flower.
And Julie said: "The total raised from the generous donors at the Club over the last couple of months to a brilliant £397.77 – which is just amazing!
"None of this would have been possible without your support, thank you so much. This will make an incredible difference to the people we support.
"£397 could enable our Outreach Team to support 97 members for 4 weeks with tailored advice, low vision assessments and assisted technology training, which helps them to make best use of remaining sight and live as independently as possible.
“Or enable us to send our bi-monthly newsletter (available in Large Print, email, Braille, CD and USB) to 763 members – providing them with the news most relevant to them, advice around eye health, tips and service updates."
4Sight Vision Support, known as West Sussex Association for the Blind up until 2017 with West Sussex removed from the name in 2001, celebrates its 100th Anniversary this year.
The charity aims to make a positive difference in the lives of people living with sight loss in West Sussex by providing support, advice, advocacy and training to improve their quality of life.
