Two arrests have been made after a stabbing in Worthing.
Police were called to New Parade at around 3:20pm on Thursday following reports of an assault.
A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.
Sussex Police say a 25-year-old man of no fixed address has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning GBH, while a 31-year-old Worthing man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact police.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the New Parade area around the time of the incident and may have seen anything suspicious.
Detective Inspector Chris May said: “Two men have been arrested in relation to this incident.
“This is an active investigation and we encourage anyone who witnessed the incident or who has relevant information, such as CCTV or mobile footage, to contact us.
“There will be patrols in the area for reassurance, and people are encouraged to stop and talk to officers.”
