Teenager faces trial over incident which saw armed police called to school

A teenager has denied possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence over an incident at Crawley College.

A huge police response was scrambled to the West Sussex college on April 26, including dozens of armed officers.

The road outside the college was closed for hours while officers armed with guns responded to the incident.

Sandijs Dreimanis, 18, appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday where he pleaded not guilty to possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

The teenager, wearing a grey jumper and face mask, was remanded in custody ahead of his trial on December 6.
