A house is set to be demolished and replaced with 10 new homes in Bognor Regis.
Arun District Council’s Planning Committee supported an application to demolish 26 Burnham Avenue, Bognor Regis, and build homes on the site on Wednesday (22 June).
The plans, submitted by HOP Architects Limited, now have outline permission – or permission in principal – and further details of the development will be the subject of a later application.
Two similar applications at the same site were previously withdrawn due to concerns about over development and a lack of biodiversity surveying.
Another application was approved by the Planning Committee in July last year, but was then refused as a legal agreement outlining developer contributions was not signed in time. Latest plans garnered objections from the town council and six others. Despite the earlier refusals, based partially on biodiversity grounds, no details of biodiversity net gain have been provided.
But council planning officers consider this acceptable as the application is only at outline stage and details may come forward later.
Officers added that an agreement for developer contributions is not yet complete but is ‘more advanced than previously’.
They confirmed they will be seeking contributions towards play equipment at Hotham Park and for Pagham Harbour.
The Planning Committee has given the group head of planning permission to approve the plans once a Section 106 agreement is signed.
