A Waterlooville man has been jailed for 54 weeks after a series of offences including shoplifting, assaulting an emergency worker and dangerous driving.
Harry Wild, 29, of Partridge Gardens in Waterlooville, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 21 May, where he was sentenced for offences committed in Waterlooville and Havant.
The court heard Wild stole alcohol from the One Stop store on Hart Plain Avenue on several occasions.
On Monday 6 April, he stole £18 worth of alcohol, before returning on Sunday 12 April and taking alcohol worth £36.
He then stole £12 worth of alcohol from the same store on Thursday 30 April.
On Sunday 3 May, Wild stole meat and alcohol worth £54.85, again from the One Stop on Hart Plain Avenue.
He was also sentenced for assaulting an emergency worker after kicking a police officer in the face while resisting arrest on Friday 15 May.
The offences also activated a suspended sentence which had been imposed at the same court on 15 December 2025.
That suspended sentence related to a dangerous driving incident which took place in Havant on 4 April 2024.
Wild was handed a combined total sentence of 54 weeks in prison.
PS Christian Lavin from the Waterlooville North Neighbourhood Policing Team said, “I am pleased to see Wild receive a significant sentence for this series of offences.”
“Whether you are working in a shop or in the emergency services, no one deserves to face abuse at work, and Wild is clearly an individual who does not care how his behaviour impacts those around him.
“I hope this sentence sends a clear message that antisocial and violent behaviour will not be tolerated in Hampshire, and offenders will be pursued and brought to justice for their actions.”
