Peter Edgeler

Where in West Sussex are you based: I live near a small village called Walberton which is about half way between Chichester and Arundel.

Musical taste: My taste in music is really quite wide from Musical Theatre (thanks to the shows put on by the Chichester Festival Theatre) to Classical and from Rock and Pop across the decades to Folk but if pushed I'd lean towards Soul and Jazz. My favourite album of all time is Songs In The Key of Life by Stevie Wonder and in a top ten album list I compiled a few years ago there were also tracks by Quincy Jones, Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye.

How long have you been involved in radio: I've been involved in radio since 1991 when I started as a volunteer with Chichester Hospital Radio at St Richard's and I'm still a volunteer there now. In between times I've been a travel reporter for BBC Local Radio in Sussex and Surrey and worked on a couple of short term restricted licences for groups looking to set up stations in Chichester and Worthing so coming to V2 kind of closes a loop that began well over 25 years ago in a temporary building at Chichester College.

Best radio experience: There have been quite a few. Interviewing Michael Ball when he came to break ground on the cancer day care centre at St Richard's. Soon after he was given a job on BBC Radio 2 and I'd like to think I helped him on his way!
The funniest for me personally was when I took a phone call during a travel shift from one of my brothers complaining there was only one thing worse than getting stuck in a long queue on the motorway just after your last chance to exit and avoid the holdup and that was having your kid brother burst through on the car radio telling you all about it!

Favourite part of West Sussex: I love where I am as we have so much to choose from North, South, East and West. We've got a varied coastline, nature reserves at Pagham and Medmerry, historic sites like Arundel Castle and the Roman Villas at Bignor and Fishbourne, world class entertainment at the Chichester Festival Theatre and Motor Sport at Goodwood all within a few miles. I could go on and on about the attractions whilst for exercise there are almost endless possibilities for walking or cycling.

What excites you about V2 Radio: I'm excited to be working with a bunch of people who are passionate not only about radio but also about serving their community whether it's giving a shout out on the air or collecting for charity. I'm also a great believer that local radio should be located in the area it serves and as we say on air V2 is Proper Local Radio.
