AUDIENCES WELCOMED BACK FOR A CELEBRATORY OPEN AIR WEEKEND AT CHICHESTER FESTIVAL THEATRE

Family Fun in the Park, 4 & 5 June at 1.30pm

Concerts in the Park, 3 - 5 June at 7pm, 6 June at 2pm

Chichester Festival Theatre presents a celebratory weekend of open air entertainment in Oaklands Park from Thursday 3 – Sunday 6 June, heralding the reopening of the Theatre ahead of the summer musical South Pacific.

Concerts in the Park will be compèred by presenter and actor Tom Read Wilson (BBC's Celebrity Best Home Cook and E4's Celebs Go Dating) with West End stars Carly Bawden (Romantics Anonymous, Alice, My Fair Lady), Damian Humbley (Merrily We Roll Along, Company), Emma Kingston (Fiddler on the Roof, Evita, Zorro), Maimuna Memon (Jesus Christ Superstar, Standing at the Sky’s Edge) and Ako Mitchell (Caroline, Or Change, Sister Act, The Color Purple), accompanied by a superb live band performing beloved numbers from musical theatre and beyond, for an uplifting show full of sunshine and song. The concerts are directed by Louise Shephard, whose recent work includes CFT’s Celebrating Sondheim concert, and the musical director is Theo Jamieson.
 

BAFTA Award-winning Emily Burnett (CBBC’s The Dumping Ground) headlines Family Fun in the Park on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 June at 1.30pm, reading Lauren Child’s That Pesky Rat and Pamela Butchart's Never Tickle A Tiger,  with actors using puppetry to bring stories including to life. Families can also join in a fun ‘Dance-Along’ as part of Telling Tiger Tales. Suitable for ages 4+.

The format will follow the highly successful model seen at last summer’s events, with a raised stage erected next to the Festival Theatre on Oaklands Park. Plots will be marked out on the Park for all events, with small plots for up to two people and larger plots for up to six people.

Dress floral! Why not bring on the flower power, whether in your favourite frock, leggings, a fancy tie or just a buttonhole?

Arrangements will be in place for social distancing, and all rules and guidelines prevalent at the time will be strictly adhered to throughout the event. The event is being planned with the co-operation and support of Chichester District Council.

Tickets are on sale now at cft.org.uk. Plots of varying sizes will cost from £10 (for 2 people) for Family Fun in the Park and from £40 (for 2 people) for the Concerts in the Park.
