This year's event also celebrates an extraordinary milestone as legendary puppet performer and maker 𝗕𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲 marks 80 years of performing Punch and Judy, making this a very special gathering for anyone interested in British puppetry heritage.

✨ 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗺, 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗲𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻. Originally produced for Channel 4 in 1985 by David Furnham, the series told the story of puppeteer, author and travelling showman Walter Wilkinson, with Roy Hudd in the title role. On Saturday 26th September only, visitors will have the rare opportunity to meet David, view original puppets made by celebrated puppet maker John Wright, see props and memorabilia from the production, and watch screenings of The Puppet Man for the first time in more than forty years. David will also be bringing The Old Encumbrance, Walter Wilkinson's famous travelling puppet theatre on wheels, which will join the parade along the promenade. Having celebrated his 80th birthday the day before the festival, David's appearance promises to be a fascinating opportunity to experience a remarkable piece of British puppetry and television history.
