Appeal following serious collision on A283, Steyning

Police in Steyning are appealing for witnesses after a collision on the A283.

Emergency services were called to the junction of the B2135, where a green Sunbeam Alpine and a white Peugeot Partner van had collided at around 2 pm on Wednesday.

The green Sunbeam Alpine caught fire upon impact, with the Fire and Rescue Service also called to the scene.

One driver, an 82-year-old man from Storrington, is in hospital with life-changing injuries.

Anyone who witnessed what happened or has relevant information is asked to come forward.
